Records and History Updates

The Records and History sections of the website have been updated to include the 2016-2017 season. Anthony Mosser added his name to two of the career record lists. He moved into fourth in career victories with 133 and ninth in career pins with 68. The biggest change was in the list of brother records. The Liter brothers (Nick and Luke) jumped to fourth followed by the Mosser brothers (Anthony and Logan) at fifth while the Bates brothers (Parker and Hunter) moved into the top ten at ninth. Other brothers from this year included Nash and Trey Brunner at 36th and a new entry with Gabe and Dallas Schwaller. The Jets also added eight new teams to their list of opponents. You can use the links above to view these updated pages.

Year-end Awards

The season officially ended with the annual awards banquet. Four major awards were given out. Anthony Mosser won BAGUBA of the year, Logan Mosser received the Mental Attitude award, Parker Bates won Most Improved, and Devin Lotter won the Full Throttle Practice award. Congratulations, guys. We're already looking forward to next year.

State Finals

Anthony Mosser and Logan Macklin both saw their season end on Friday Night of state finals as each fell by major decision. For Anthony, it was also the end of a stellar career as a BAGUBA that included two state finals appearances, four conference championships, two sectional championships, a regional championship and 133 career victories (fourth on the AC career victory list). For Logan, it was hopefully a taste of more success to come in the next two years. Congratulations Anthony, Logan and all of this year's BAGUBAs on a great year.

Fort Wayne Semi-State

The BAGUBAs qualified at least one wrestler for the state finals for 18 consecutive years, from 1980 through 1997. That streak was broken in 1998, but a new one started in 1999. That streak passed the first one when Anthony Mosser and Logan Macklin punched their tickets to this year's state finals. The current streak is now 19 consecutive years. Logan finished second at 138 and Anthony placed fourth at 132. Logan Mosser, Nick Liter, and Parker Bates all won their opening match before being eliminated in the ticket round. The Jets finished eighth in the team standings. The championship and consolation matches plus all other AC matches can be found here.

Jay County Regional

There will be 6 BAGUBAs participating in the semi-state at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum next week. Logan Mosser, Nick Liter, Anthony Mosser, and Logan Macklin all made it to the championship match and placed second. Parker Bates finished third and Cayden Shaffer placed fourth to complete the AC contingent. As a team, the Jets placed fifth, but were only four points out of third place. The results from the placement round and all other AC matches can be seen on this page.

Jay County Sectional

AC advanced 10 out 12 wrestlers from this year's sectional. Anthony Mosser (132) and Logan Macklin (138) won championships for AC while Logan Mosser (113), Nash Brunner (220) and Brandon Schoeneman (285) were runner-ups. The BAGUBAs placed third in the team race coming within three points of conference champion Jay County. The results from the placement round plus all other AC matches can be seen here.

ACAC Tournament

All 12 BAGUBAs who participated in the conference tournament placed in the top 4 of their weight class, but the Jets couldn't match Jay County's numbers and finished second in the 2017 ACAC tournament. AC was led by four champions; Nick Liter at 120, Anthony Mosser at 132, Logan Macklin at 138, and Nash Brunner at 220. Nash defeated both of the top two seeds to win after being seeded third. Anthony joined the elite club of 4-time conference champions with his victory. It was the second championship for both Nick and Logan. The results from the finals plus all other AC matches can be viewed on this page.

Adams Central 42 Huntington North 32

The match with Huntington North went back and forth all night. The BAGUBAs won the first two matches to take an early lead before Huntington North won four consecutive matches by fall or forfeit. It took five matches for the Jets to take back the lead after 120, but it only lasted one match. AC regained the lead for good when Anthony Mosser pinned his opponent and the Huntington North wrestler couldn't touch Logan Macklin whose pin secured the victory. Brant Thieme, Brandon Schoeneman and Logan Mosser also recorded falls for AC. The varsity and JV individual match results can be found here.

Wrestling Jet Invitational

Ice again played havoc with an event on the BAGUBAs schedule preventing the two Indianapolis schools from participating, but the event went on after some reorganization of the brackets and hand writing the bout cards for the last two rounds.  Team scores were discarded and only individual results were kept. The Jets finished with weight class champions in Logan Mosser, Anthony Mosser, and Logan Macklin while Nick Liter, Parker Bates and Brandon Schoeneman finished second. The results of all AC matches can be viewed on this page.

Adams Central 45 Delta 28

The BAGUBAs stormed back from an early 18 point deficit with eight straight wins to pull away from Delta for a non-conference victory. The Jets were led by falls from Nash Brunner, Brandon Schoeneman, Anthony Mosser, Logan Macklin, and Brant Thieme. Dallas Schwaller collected a forfeit for another 6-point victory for AC. The varsity and JV individual match results can be found here.

Bellmont Main Event

AC participated in the Main Event tournament at Bellmont for the first time and faced some of the biggest schools in the state. The Jets finished the day with two wins and three losses, but two of the losses were to the number 1 and 2 teams in the state, Brownsburg and Perry Meridian. The other loss was to Bloomington South while AC had wins over Mishawaka and South Bend Adams. The Jets have now had dual meets against the top 2 3A and the top two teams in 2A from the team state tournament. Anthony Mosser led the BAGUBAs going 4-1 on the day. The results of all five dual meets can be viewed on this page.

Homestead 45 Adams Central 32

Homestead's middle weights proved too strong as they pulled away and finished with a 45-32 victory over the Jets. Nash Brunner, Brandon Schoeneman, Logan Mosser, and Anthony Mosser all had falls for AC and Logan Macklin won by tech fall. The BAGUBAs will next face some of the best big schools in the state on Saturday at the Bellmont Main Event tournament. The varsity and JV individual match results can be found here.

IHSWCA Team State Duals

The BAGUBAs were seeded sixth for this year team state duals and that's exactly where they finished. AC defeated Elwood and lost to third-seeded Oak Hill in pool match-ups. That placed them against Central Noble, the number seven seed, in the next round. AC finished strong to knock off Central Noble, but fell to North Posey in the match to determine fifth and sixth. Nick Liter, Anthony Mosser, Logan Macklin, and Parker bates all went 4-0 for the tournament. Macklin won all of his matches by fall. The team and  individual match results can be viewed on this page.

Adams Central 37 Leo 36

The icy roads on Saturday prohibited the BAGUBAs from participating in the Yorktown Duals, but it allowed them to renew an old rivalry with former conference foe Leo. The match was close as always, the Jets prevailed, winning by overtime criteria H, most total first points scored. Jantz Blackburn, Brandon Schoeneman, and Parker Bates scored falls for the Jets. Logan Macklin won a big decision over Chase Hissong. AC's next match will be Friday at the Team State Duals in the Allen County Memorial Coliseum.where they are pooled with Oak Hill and Elwood. The varsity and JV individual match results can be found on this page.

Yorktown 65 Adams Central 9

The Jets faced Yorktown, the top team in class 2A, and were only able to win two individual matches. Jantz Blackburn won a decision and Cayden Shaffer scored a fall over their Yorktown opponents. Saturday AC will travel to Yorktown for a super dual and should have Logan Macklin back in the line-up. The varsity  individual match results can be found here.

Coldwater Sieleski Duals

The Jets opened their season in Coldwater, Ohio at the Sieleski Duals and finished 3-2 on the day for fourth place. They started the day with wins over Clyde, Spencerville, and Coldwater before falling to Elida and Edgerton. AC forfeited three weight classes all day due to football players who haven't had enough time to get down to weight after the extended football season. Anthony Mosser led the individual results going 5-0. Nick Liter, Cayden Shaffer, and Parker Bates all finished 4-0 and Trey Brunner was 3-0. You can find all of the dual and individual results on this page.

2016-17 schedule posted

The schedule for this season is now available. There are several changes compared to last year. The dual with South Adams has been dropped since the ACAC added a round-robin tournament last year. A dual with Delta was added to replace South Adams. The other changes happened because the BAGUBAs will no longer be going to the Warren Central super dual. Warren Central's conference tournament was moved one week earlier beginning  this year, so they moved their super dual a week later. That conflicts with the ACAC tournament, so the Jets had to drop out. AC will be participating in the Main Event at Bellmont on January 7 to replace Warren Central. The Jet Invitational was moved one week later than normal, to January 14, to accommodate the change. You can view the entire schedule by clicking the link at the top of the page.
