New Head Coach Named

Please join me in congratulating Tony Currie as the new head wrestling coach for the BAGUBAs. Tony is the sixth head coach in the program's history and the fourth former jet wrestler to accept the position. Tony's knowledge, experience, and dedication will continue the progress started under Coach Schultz.

History/Records Update

The History and Records sections of the website have been updated to include 2013-2014. Derek Ellinger finished his career tied for second place in career wins with 139. He was also third in career pins and tied for third in season wins and second in season pins. Kaine Luginbill tied for fifth in season wins. He and his brother, Chantz, moved up to 11th place in career records by brothers. The Jets wrestled 4 new teams this year, finishing 3-1. They defeated Clinton Central, West Central and Arsenal Tech and lost to Floyd Central. You can view the updated Records and History pages by clicking on those links.

Season Awards

The 2013-2014 awards were presented at the season ending awards banquet on Monday, March 17. Four major awards were given. The Most Valuable Wrestler award was presented to Senior Derek Ellinger. Junior Kaine Luginbill was awarded the Leadership award. This year two Most Improved awards were given and they went to a pair of Sophomores, Tucker Miller and Ryan Ashley. Thanks for a good year, wrestlers. We're already looking forward to next year.

IHSAA State Finals

The Jets couldn't get past Friday night at State Finals, but they came very close. Kaine Luginbill hit a last second reversal to take the lead in the final seconds of his match, but it was ruled an escape after the buzzer blew, sending the match into overtime. He then lost the takedown in sudden victory to fall 10-8. Derek Ellinger gave up the initial takedown and wasn't able to recover against an opponent who was skilled at controlling his opponent from the top. Still, both wrestlers completed great seasons and, for Derek, a great career. He finished his high school career tied for second in career victories. Congratulations, guys. Kaine, next year under the lights! The top 10 team scores and the results of AC matches are on this page.

Fort Wayne Semi-State

Two BAGUBAs will represent AC in next week's state finals as Derek Ellinger placed second at 138 and Kaine Luginbill took third at 170. This is the 16th consecutive year that at least one BAGUBA has qualified for state and the 34th time in the last 35 years. Derek and Kaine will learn their opponents for Friday night when the IHSAA releases the brackets Sunday. Three other Jets saw their seasons end Saturday as Anthony Mosser (106), Hunter Bates (132), and Isiah Bollenbacher (285) were all defeated in round 1. AC placed 10th in the team standings. Good luck next week. The top 20 team scores and the results of the placement round and other AC matches can be found here.

Jay County Regional

Adams Central finished third in the regional team standings behind Bellmont and runaway champion Yorktown. Five Jets advanced to next week's semi-state including regional champion Derek Ellinger at 138. Kaine Luginbill finished second at 170, Hunter Bates was third at 132, and Anthony Mosser and Isiah Bollenbacher placed fourth at 106 and 285 respectively. The team scores and the results of the placement round are on this page.

ACAC Tournament

Several AC wrestlers finished above their seeding in the delayed ACAC tournament, but in the end the Jets didn't have to depth to catch regular season champion Leo and finished in second place. Anthony Mosser, Derek Ellinger, and Kaine Luginbill claimed individual championships for AC while Andy Oliver, Hunter Bates, Luke Liter, and Isiah Bollenbacher finished second. Every BAGUBA entered placed in the top six.  The team scores and the results of the placement round are on this page.

Adams Central 48 Heritage 27

The Jets defeated conference foe Heritage even though they were still missing two varsity wrestlers. Kaine Luginbill, Karthon McCullough, Joe Fuelling, Isiah Bollenbacher, Tucker Miller, and Derek Ellinger all pinned their Heritage opponents. Anthony Mosser and Trevor Free received forfeits to complete the AC scoring. Next up is the ACAC tournament at Garrett this Saturday. Come support the wrestlers as they defend last year's championship. The individual results from the Heritage match can be found here.

Warren Central Super Dual

The BAGUBAs took a depleted lineup to Indianapolis for the Warren Duals, but were able to pick up to victories in five matches. Andy Oliver and Luke Liter were out with injuries and Karthon McCullough was unable to make the trip causing the Jets to give a least two forfeits per match. Still, Ac was able to defeat Arsenal Tech 59-12 and Northwestern 60-9. The other matches were losses to Roncalli, 42-25, Warren Central 67-10, and Ben Davis 54-9. You can find the individual results for the super dual on this page.

Adams Central Super Dual

Yogi Berra said it best: "It was deja vu all over again." For the second consecutive Saturday a tournament championship came down to Churubusco and Adams Central and again the match was not decided until the final weight class. Unfortunately, the results were the same again, too, as the Eagles defeated the Jets 38-29. AC won their other four matches over Bluffton (72-2), Southwood (54-19), FW Snider (47-28), and Jay County (45-36). Anthony Mosser, Derek Ellinger, and Kaine Luginbill went undefeated on the day. Andy Oliver, Hunter Bates, Luke Liter, Karthon McCullough, and Joe Fuelling went 4-1. The individual match results for today's super dual can be seen here.

IHSWCA Team State

It came down to the last match of the day for the team state championship and AC came up just short, losing to Churubusco 42-36 and finishing as runner-up this year. The Jets started the day by dominating Clinton Central 61-15. Then, West Central gave the BAGUBA's a close match by closing the score to 32 -27 before Isiah Bollenbacher and Anthony Mosser ended their chances with falls and took the Jets to a 44-27 finish. That set up the final match with Churubusco. Mosser, Derek Ellinger, and Kaine Luginbill all went 3-0 for the tournament with Kaine winning all three of his matches by pin. Joe Fuelling made his return to the mat scoring two pins and losing a decision. Tucker Miller, Jarren Gremaux, Andy Oliver, Hunter Bates, Luke Liter, and Bollenbacher all went 2-1 also. The next Varsity natch for the Jets will be conference foe Heritage on January 9. You can see the individual match results from Team State on this page.

New Haven Superdual

AC faced some stiff, but competitive competition at the New Have Superdual and came away with a 2-3 record. All of the duals were close, with two of them coming down to the last match. Derek Ellinger, Kaine Luginbill, and Isiah Bollenbacher all went 5-0 on the day. Isiah pinned all five of his opponents. Anthony Mosser went 4-1. The Jets now have a break as the rest, recover , and prepare for the second IHSWCA Classed Team State finals at Westfield HS on January 4. You can find the individual match results from the superdual here.

ACAC Quad Duals

The BAGUBA's improved their conference record to 4-1 by sweeping all three opponents at the ACAC Quad Duals in Woodlan. The Jets defeated Woodlan (55 - 21), Southern Wells (67 - 12), and Garrett (47 - 30). Anthony Mosser, Andy Oliver, Hunter Bates, Derek Ellinger, Luke Liter, Ryan Ashley, Kaine Luginbill, and Isiah Bollenbacher all went 3 - 0 for the evening. The individual match results can be found on this page.

Bellmont 60 Adams Central 14

The Braves of Bellmont proved too much for the Jets and defeated them by a final score of 6014. Isiah Bollenbacher scored the only fall for the BAGUBA's at 285 while Derek Ellinger won by technical fall and Luke Liter won by decision. The Jets wrestled without Hunter Bates who sat out the match with an injury, but will return for the ACAC Triple Dual at Woodlan on Thursday. The individual results of all matches can be seen here.

Adams Central 51 South Adams 27

AC bounced back from their opening ACAC loss to defeat county rival South Adams by a 51 - 27 count. The BAGUBA's jumped out to an early 24 - 0 lead, extended it to 42 -6 and were never challenged in the match.  Andy Oliver, Hunter Bates, Derek Ellinger, and Anthony Mosser scored falls for AC. Luke Liter, Kaine Luginbill, Julian Aguirre, and Karthon McCullough all received forfeits. Jarren Gremaux made his varsity debut with a 7-5 decision win. The JV wrestlers will be hosting an invitational this Saturday and the Varsity will be home to their other county rival, Bellmont, on Tuesday. The results of the matches can be found on this page.

Leo 45 Adams Central 30

The BAGUBA's started the conference season by facing the league favorite, Leo, and lost by a 45 - 30 score. The match was close for most of the evening and AC trailed by only 3 points with two matches to go, but Leo won both of those matches by fall to lock up the victory.  Derek Ellinger, Luke Liter, Kaine Luginbill, and Anthony Mosser scored falls for the Jets while Hunter Bates and Karthon McCullough won decisions. The Jets next match will be with county rival South Adams at the AC gym on 12/12/2013. The results of the Leo matches can be found here.

John Hurrle Memorial Tournament

The Jets traveled to Indianapolis for their first appearance in the John Hurrle Memorial Tournament at Arsenal Tech High School. This tournament is different from most in that each weight class can have a different format, based on the number of wrestlers entered. AC finished second in the team race to state power Hamilton Southeastern. Two BAGUBA's won weight class championships: Derek Ellinger at 138 pounds and Isiah Bollenbacher at 285. Luke Liter was the only other Jet in the championship match, placing second at 145. You can see the championship match results and the placement round matches for all other Jet wrestlers on this page.

New Roster Available

The BAGUBA's will start the 2013-2014 season with a 21 man roster.  There are currently only 2 Seniors leading the team, but 9 Juniors will help with the upperclassmen leadership. Three Sophomores and 7 Freshmen round out the roster. It's still not too late to join the team if you know anyone else who might be interested. The current roster is posted here.
