2024 Semi-State

Adams Central did not advance anyone to the state finals for the first time in 26 years. The day started well when six of the eight BAGUBAs entered won their first match, but that was the end of victories for the Jets. They had a lot of close matches, four Jets lost two point decisions in the ticket round, but they weren't able to get points when they needed them. This was still a successful season for a young group of wrestlers and a solid foundation returns for next year's team. 2024 Regional

Eight BAGUBAs won their first match at Regional and advanced to the Semi-State level next week, but the Jets were only able to claim one championship. Trevor Currie defeated Bryce Wenk of Jay County for the third week in a row to win the championship at 190. Keegan Bluhm and Zac Wurm placed second, while Myles Kaehr, Kale Beer, Maverick Dubach and Max Byerly placed third. Brayson Schortgen was the eighth Jet to advance with a fourth place finish. AC finished in fourth in the team race with 105 points. The results of the championship and consolation round plus all results for AC matches can be found here.

2024 Sectional

AC went into the final round of the sectional with a 16 point lead, but Bellmont won 9 of their 12 matches, including 5 championships, to pull out a 5.5 point win. Two BAGUBAs won individual championships, Brason Schortgen at 132 and Trevor Currie at 190. The Jets will take the entire team to next week's regional as every BAGUBA finished in the top 4 of their weight class. ACAC Tournament

The BAGUBAs got off to a fast start by advancing all 14 wrestlers in the first round and they never looked back, winning the conference individual tourney by over 50 points. Every Jet placed in the top 3 of their weight class. Brayson Schortgen, Max Byerly, Matt Heiser, Trevor Currie and Keegan Bluhm all won individual titles for AC. AC Duals

AC added a double-dual to the schedule to make up for some of the matches lost to the cancellation of the Jet Invitational. Bishop Dwenger and Huntington North were the other teams participating. The BAGUBAs won both matches in dominating form, defeating Dwenger 58-12 and Huntington North 69-12. The Jets only lost four individual matches on the night. There were no JV matches wrestled, but the individual results of the varsity matches for both duals can be found on this page.

Delta 49 Adams Central 21

A short-handed Jet team took on the 2A Team State champion and fell by a score of 49-21. Three starters missed the match due to sickness and injuries, but the Delta lineup was too strong to defeat. Maverick Dubach and Trevor Currie had the only pins for the BAGUBAs. Keegan Bluhm picked up a forfeit for the other 6-point victory. The results of the varsity and JV matches can be seen here.

IHSWCA Team State

The BAGUBAs advanced to the championship match of the team state duals for the second year in a row, but again finished as the runner-up. The Jets defeated North Miami 53-21 for their first win of the day. Then, they avenged losses in the last to years by defeating Tell City 38-34. That dual came down to the last match with the AC trailing 34-32, but Max Byerly recorded a first period fall to secure the win. The championship match was never close as Rochester jumped out to 28-0 lead and coasted to a final score of 46-14. took on a strong Homestead squad and came away with a 41-30 win. Brayson Schortgen and Jaret Smith were the only Jets to go 3-0 for the tournament. You can see the individual results for the all three matches on this page.

Adams Central 41 Homestead 30

AC took on a strong Homestead squad and came away with a 41-30 win. The Jets built an 35-12 lead with four matches to go, but the Spartans rolled off three straight pins to make the score 35-30 with one match to go. Matt Heiser stopped the comeback with a pin to secure the win. Zac Wurm, Myles Kaehr and Dylan Ogg also had pins for the BAGUBAs. Willey Holiday Duals

The BAGUBAs swept the field at Lafayette Jeff, finishing with the a 10-0 record. They were never really challenged with their closest match being a 50-22 victory. The wins included a reversal of their lost last year to New Prairie by a 50-18 score. Other wins were over West Lafayette (79-0), Tri West (70-9), Rossville (57-20), Maconaquah (50-22), North Newton (81-0), Mishawaka Marion (73-6), Kokomo (65-12), Calumet (79-0) and Faith Christian (60-15). Myles Kaehr, Kale Beer, Brayson Schortgen and Maverick Dubach each won all 10 of their matches. Zac Wurm returned to the match and won all nine of the matches he was entered in. Keegan Bluhm also returned to the lineup for the first time this year and won both of his matches with quick pins. You can find the individual results of all 10 dual meets on this page.

Bellmont 38 Adams Central 32

A huge crowd turned out for the annual match between county rivals and top ranked 1A and 2A teams Adams Central and Bellmont and they didn't leave disappointed. With two weight classes to go Bellmont held a slim 32-29 lead. The teams split the last two weights and Bellmont escaped with a 38-32 win.  Each team won seven weight classes, but Bellmont scored more bonus points. Brason Schortgen, Maverick Dubach, and Myles Kaehr had pins for the Jets while Kale Beer won by technical fall. Adams Central 48 Norwell 21

Adams Central won the dual over sectional rival Norwell by taking 10 of the 14 individual matches. Wyatt McAfee, Myles Kaehr, Brason Schortgen, Maverick Dubach and Jaret Smith recorded pins for the BAGUBAs in the 48-21 win. New Haven Super 10

The Jets went 3-1 in their pool and then defeated Prairie Height 37-31 to finish in third place for the New Haven Super 10 tournament. Their victories in pool duals were over Maconaquah (51-22), South Bend Washington (81-0), and Lakeland (71-12). Their only loss on the day was to the fourth ranked team in 4A, Avon, by a score of 40-24. Trevor Currie and Wyatt McAfee were the only BAGUBAs to go undefeated on the day. Adams Central 63 Columbia City 18

The BAGUBAs bounced back from their first loss of the season with a big win over Columbia City. Max Kaehr, Trevor Currie, Wyatt McAfee, Kale Beer, Dylan Ogg, Maverick Dubach, Max Byerly and Jaret Smith all scored falls for the Jets as they rolled to a 63-18 victory. New Haven 41 Adams Central 28

AC lost to a strong New Haven team by a score of 41-28. The Jets won six matches out of 14. Maverick Dubach and Wyatt McAfee had the only pins for the Jets. The results of the varsity and JV matches can by seen here.

ACAC Round-Robin Duals

The BAGUBAs captured the ACAC regular season championship by going 6-0 in the round-robin duals. The Jets first match was the closest as they defeated South Adams by a score of 42-36, but they dominated the rest of the field by defeating Bluffton 72-11, Southern Wells 78-0, Heritage 84-0, Woodlan 76-6 and defending champion Jay County 45-16. Brason Schortgen, Trevor Currie and Zac Wurm all went 6-0 while Myles Kaehr and Xander Schwartz went 5-0. Brason Schortgen won all six of his matches by fall. 2023-24 Schedule and Roster Released

The schedule and roster pages have been updated for 2023-2024 season.   The schedule has no changes form last year other than that the location for State Finals was moved to the Ford Center in Evansville because Gainesville Fieldhouse is being used for the NBA All-Star game.

The BAGUBAs will begin the season with 26 men on the roster. Eighteen members return form last year's roster. There are six freshmen plus a new Sophomore and Senior on the team. Weight classes have changed from 2022-2023. There are still 14 classes and the lower six weights remain the same; 106, 113,120, 126, 132, and 138. The middle weights changed to add a weight: 144, 150, 157, 165 and 175. There are now only three heavier weights, 190, 215, and 285.

2023-24 Schedule/Roster Reset

The schedule and roster pages have been reset to prepare for 2023-2024. They will be updated after practice begins and this year's roster and schedule are known.
