Records/History Update

The records and history pages of the website have been updated with the 2018-2019 season results. Here's a summary of the changes:

AC wrestled three schools for the first time this season; Lakeland, Wabash, and Centerville. All three were victories.

Logan Mosser matched last year's season total for victories with 42, the second most ever. Jashawn Berlanga also joined the season victories list with 38. Jashawn and Logan also added their names to the season pins list. Jashawn tied the school record with 29 and Logan had 23.

The career records updates featured the Logan's, Mosser and Macklin. Logan Mosser appears in all four lists. He has the second most career wins ever with 146 and is also listed in career takedowns (221), career pins (66) and consecutive wins (36). Logan Macklin joined the career win list with 119 and is tied for third in career pins with 76.

Finally, the brother list saw the biggest changes. Logan and Anthony Mosser took over the top spot with 279 wins between them. Parker and Hunter Bates jumped from number 6 to a tie for third with 233 wins. The Bollenbacher brothers moved from 23rd to a tie for 20th with 120 wins and the Brunner brothers moved up one spot with 92 wins. Finally, a new brother team entered the list. Jacob Manley and Kaleb Peace debuted at 38th with 47 wins.

Year-end Awards

The BAGUBAs celebrated the end of one of their most successful seasons as well as the end of the careers for 11 Seniors at the annual awards banquet. Four awards were presented and all went to Seniors:

BAGUBA of the Year: Logan Mosser and Logan Macklin
Mental Attitude Award: Jashawn Berlanga
Full Throttle Award: Parker Bates
Most Improved Award: Monty Hill

IHSAA State Finals

This year's state finals brought mixed results for of the BAGUBAs. Logan Mosser saw his outstanding career end on Friday night with a loss while Logan Macklin advanced to the placement rounds on Saturday with a win. Mack fell from the championship bracket on Saturday morning, but came back with two wins and a fifth place medal. Mosser finishes his career with the second most wins by any AC wrestler and Macklin finished tied for eleventh. AC finished in 36th place in the team race. New Haven Semi-State

All four of the Jet's regional champions won their opening match at semi-state, but only two were able to punch their ticket to the state finals. Logan Mosser and Logan Macklin both made it to the championship match and Logan Macklin won the individual championship at 145. Parker Bates and Jashawn Berlanga fell in the ticket round at 170 and 220. The other five Jets fell in the opening round. The team finished in a tie for 8th place with 32 points. Jay County Regional

Adams Central had won one wrestling regional 30 years ago in 1989. Now, there are two as the 2019 Jets won the Jay County Regional in dominating fashion. AC finished with 140 team points while second place Norwell  had 97.5 points. Nine of the 11 BAGUBAs who entered the regional advanced to the semi-state. Five Jets made it to the championship match and four won their weight classes. Those were Seniors Logan Mosser (132), Logan Macklin (145), Parker Bates (170) and Jashawn Berlanga (220). Monty Hill (182) finished as a runner-up. The other Jets to advance were Alex Currie (126), Cayden Shaffer (138), Blake Heyerly (152) and Paul Faurote (160). Jay County Sectional

The Jets started the wrestling sectional down two wrestlers as their 106 and 113 pounders were unavailable due to illness and injury, but the remaining 12 made up for it. Eleven of the twelve placed in the top 3 in their class and advanced to the regional. AC easily outdistanced second place Jay County, winning the sectional title by 21 points, 231-210. Five BAGUBAs won individual championships; Alex Currie at 126, Logan Mosser at 132, Logan Macklin at 145, Parker Bates at 170, and Jashawn Berlanga at 220. Three more Jets advanced to the finals and finish as runner-up. They were Cayden Shaffer at 138, Monty Hill at 182, and Devin Lotter at 285. ACAC Tournament

AC added a tournament victory to their round-robin championship to become the undisputed ACAC wrestling champions for 2019. But it wasn't easy. The Jets built an early lead by advancing nine to the finals, but Jay County stormed back in the final round winning most of their matches by pin. Jay County had the lead with two weight classes remaining, but Jashawn Berlanga put the BAGAUBAs back in front by pinning his Jay County opponent at 220. That final score of 256.5 - 254 held when South Adams won the 285 class. Adams Central claimed four individual championships by Logan Mosser at 142, Logan Macklin at 145, Parker Bates at 170, and Jashawn Berlanga at 220. It was the fourth championship for Logan Macklin. Alex Currie, Cayden Shaffer, Monty Hill, and Jacob Manley placed second for the Jets. Adams Central Invitational

The snow prevented one team from making the trip to Adams Central, but the tournament went on and the host Jets walked away with another tournament victory. Eight BAGUBAs made it to the championship match and Alex Currie, Logan Mosser, Paul Faurote, Parker Bates, and Monty Hill claimed championships. Cayden Shaffer, Jashawn Berlanga, and Ian Smith finished second for AC. The Jets had a total of 341 points to 322 for runner-up Huntington North. Delta 39 Adams Central 35

It was Senior Night at Adams Central vs. Delta and the varsity line-up featured nine Seniors in their last home dual. Seniors finishing the career included Jashawn Berlanga, Logan Mosser, Mason Gledhill, Trey Brunner, Ryan Byerly, Monty Hill, Noah Bollenbacher, Jake McCullough, and Jacob Manley. The only Seniors not in line-up were Logan Macklin and Parker Bates, who sat out due to injuries. Delta jumped out to a big 27-0 lead and the Jets couldn't make it all the way back, finally falling by a 39-35 score. Trey Brunner, Monty Hill, and Noah Bollenbacher recorded falls for the BAGUBAs and Jacob Manley won by forfeit. You can see the individual varsity and JV match results on this page.

Adams Central 40 Garrett 39

The Jets faced Garrett in a dual meet for the first time since they left the Allen County Athletic Conference. Sickness and injuries forced AC to use a modified line-up and the result was a close match with the Railroaders. In fact, the final score finished tied at 39 points apiece. Both teams won seven matches with one decision and six six-point results, so the tie breaker came down criteria H, the team whose total points scored first in all matches was higher. AC had 16 total first points scored to 10 for Garret, so they were awarded 1 team point making the final 40-39. Alex Currie, Logan Mosser, Cayden Shaffer, Paul Faurote, and Jacob Manley registered pins for the BAGUBAs. The varsity and JV match results can be found here.

Class 1A IHSWCA Team State

The Jets returned to the championship match of the IHSWCA Team State tournament for the first time since 2015 and faced the same team as that year, #1 seeded Prairie Heights. And, just like 2015, AC upset the top seed to claim the championship! Each team won seven individual matches, but AC had more bonus points with three pins to two for Prairie Heights. The BAGUBAs reached the finals by first dominating the teams in their pool. They started the day with a 70-12 win over Eastside and followed that up with a 60-21 victory over Wabash. Third seeded Centerville didn't have much better luck as the Jets ran away with a 53-15 victory and the rematch they'd worked for. Individually, AC was led by Jashawn Berlanga who pinned all four of his opponents. Logan Mosser and Paul Faurote also won all of their matches for the day. Adams Central 54 Columbia City 21

The meet between Adams Central and Homestead featured two matches between wrestlers ranked high in the semi-state rankings and the teams split the two matches. Logan Macklin lost a close 2-1 decision to Jake Jenkins, but Parker Bates offset that loss with a 13-8 win over Joe Parrish. The Jets depth carried teh rest of the matches and they walked away with a 54-21 victory. Devin Lotter, Alex Currie, Logan Mosser, Blake Heyerly, Paul Faurote, Noah Bollenbacher and Jacob Manley won by fall for the BAGUBAs and Jashawn Berlanga won by forfeit. Adams Central 41 Columbia City 22

Adams Central and Columbia City met on the wrestling match for the first time in over 30 years with the Jets coming away with a 41-22 victory. Most of the matches went the full six minutes in a very competitive meet. Logan Mosser, Logan Macklin, Jashawn Berlanga, and Devin Lotter were able to get falls for the BAGUBAs. Bellmont 39 Adams Central 34

The Jets lost a close match to county rival Bellmont by a 39-34 score. There were lots line-up adjustments by both coaches as they tried to get the best possible match-ups for their team. each team won seven individual matches, but the Braves picked up more pin points for the win. Jashawn Berlanga, Devin Lotter, and Parker Bates had pins for the BAGUBAs. Jacob Manley won by injury default, while Logan Mosser, Logan Macklin and Blake Heyerly also won their matches. Yorktown Duals

The BAGUBAs had their best finish ever at the Yorktown Duals, making it to the championship match before finishing in second place. AC defeated everyone in their pool, scoring wins over Bishop Dwenger, 43-31, New Haven, 60-12, Lakeland, 53-29, and Elkhart Memorial 65-12. That set up a match between the top two teams in the coaches Class A poll. The Jets dropped a close match to #1 Prairie Heights 38-30 in the finals. Logan Mosser, Parker Bates, Jashawn Berlanga and Alex Currie all finished the day with 5 wins and no losses. You can the result of each dual on this page.

Adams Central 39 New Haven 31

AC moved their dual record to 12-0 on the new season with a close victory over New Haven. Logan Macklin, Paul Faurote, Jashawn Berlanga and Alex Currie had pins for the Jets while Logan Mosser won by tech fall. The BAGUBAs' next match will be at the Yorktown Duals on Saturday. ACAC Round Robin Duals

The Jets won the ACAC Round Robin Dual Tournament for the first time since the format was initiated in 2015. AC dominated their opponents defeating Bluffton 66-12, Southern Wells 64-15, Woodlan 78-5, Heritage 54-24, South Adams 47-23 and 3-time defending champion Jay County 54-9. Alex Currie led the way going 6-0 for the tournament while Cayden Shaffer, Logan Macklin, and Parker Bates were all 5-0 and Noah Bollenbacher finished 4-0. Coldwater Duals

The BAGUBAs started their year by defending their championship at the Coldwater Duals by going 5-0. Many of the Jets have only been practicing for two weeks dues to the extended football season, so Coach Currie used several different line-ups. Eighteen different wrestlers saw action during the day with nine of them finishing the day undefeated. Logan Mosser, Jashawn Berlanga and Alex Currie led the way by going  5-0 while Logan Macklin, Ryan Byerly and Jacob Manley finished 3-0. The results of all five matches can be seen here.

Additional Schedule Changes

Two matches have been rescheduled due to the Jets advancing to the semi-state in football. The dual with Garrett has been moved from November 26 to January 8, 2019 and the Bellmont dual has moved to December 18. The current 2018 - 2019 Schedule with these changes can be viewed by clicking the Schedule link above or by clicking this link.

Schedule Change

Bellmont has cancelled the Main Event scheduled on 12/22/2018. So, the BAGUBAs will be participating in the Super Dual at Yorktown that they had previously dropped out of. 2018-19 Schedule Posted

The schedule for 2018-2019 is now available. There are several changes from the previous season. The IHSAA now requires six dual meets per team instead of the previous four dual requirement. New dual meets were added with Garrett and New Haven. The dual with Yorktown has been replaced with one against another new team for AC, Columbia City. One tournament had to be dropped from the schedule to allow for the two new dual meets, so the BAGUBAs will no longer be participating in the Super Dual that rotated between Yorktown and New Haven. The roster page has also been reset to prepare for 2018-2019. They will be updated after practice begins and this year's roster is known. You can still view the old pages by clicking the links at the top of the page for the year you want to view.
