Records and History Update

The Records and History sections of the website have been updated to reflect the 2017-2018 season results. The BAGUBAs finished the season 18-11 winning the conference tourney, finishing second at section, and third at regional and the IHSWCA team state. They wrestled two teams for the first time, defeating Preble Shawnee, Ohio and losing to Chesterton. Chandler Schumm and Logan Mosser topped the season wins list with Chandler setting a new school record at 44 and Logan tied for second with 42. Nick Liter finished his career in sixth place for wins with 126 and Logan Mosser joined the 100 career victory club. Chandler also moved near the top in season pins, tied for third with 27. Nick and Logan success moved their families near the top of the Brother Victories List. The Mosser brothers are now second all-time and the Liter brothers are third. The Bates brothers jumped to sixth place with Parker's 32 wins this year and the Collier and Douglas brothers became the newest members of the list Joseph and Logan seeing their first varsity action as freshmen. Season Awards

Four awards were presented at the season ending banquet. Mason Gledhill won the Full Throttle award for his hard work in the practice room and on the mat. The Mental Attitude award went to Paul Faurote for his willingness to step in wherever the team needed him in the line-up. Jashawn Berlanga was named Most Improved for his progress over the course of the season. Finally, the BAGUBA award was shared by Chandler Schumm and Logan Mosser as the wrestlers the team could rely on in every match. Congratulations to all of the wrestlers on another successful season.

State Finals

The BAGUBAs season ended on Friday night at the state finals with two close decisions. Logan Mosser fell by a 2-0 score and Chandler Schumm was eliminated in an even closer score, 4-3. The top ten team scores and a summary of the AC match results are available here.

New Haven (Fort Wayne) Semi-State

Logan Mosser and Chandler Schumm both qualified for the state finals and finished third in their weight classes. The BAGUBAs have now sent at least one wrestler to state for 20 consecutive years! The Jets finished tied for 14th in the team race. Chandler set a school record for most wins in a season with his quantifying match. Jay County Regional

Six BAGUBAs will continue their season at Semi-State next week after winning advancement matches in the first round of the regional. Logan Mosser and Chandler Schumm led the way with regional championships at 120 and 220. Parker Bates finished second at 160. Nick Liter (132) and Logan Macklin (152) both placed third while Cayden Shaffer placed fourth at 126 to complete the AC contingent. The Jets finished third in the team scoring, trailing only Yorktown and Jay County. Next week these six will attempt to qualify for the state finals at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Jay County Sectional

The Jets finished second in the 2018 Wrestling sectional, but it wasn't to Bellmont. Jay County won their first sectional since the number of sectional since the new format with more teams was established. The Logan's, Mosser and Macklin, won championships for AC at 120 and 152 respectively. Cayden Shaffer (126), Nick Liter (132) and Parker Bates (160) placed second. Other BAGUBAs to advance to the regional were Kaleb Peace (4th at 113), Gage Bustos (3rd at 145), Joseph Collier (4th at 182), Jashawn Berlanga (3rd at 195), and Devin Lotter (4th at 285). ACAC Tournament

ACAC Champions! The BAGUBAs rode five champions and three runner-up finishes to a conference tournament championship over round-robin champion Jay County and the rest of the field. Logan Mosser, Cayden Shaffer, Logan Macklin, Parker Bates and Chandler Schumm were weight class champions with Nick Liter, Gabe Schwaller and Gage Bustos placing second. AC Invitational

AC finished fourth at their annual invitational. 2A team state champion, Wawasee, won the event with Culver Military Academy placing second. Gage Bustos and Chandler Schumm won championships at 145 and 220 respectively. Logan Mosser, Cayden Shaffer, Parker Bates and Devin Lotter all finished second in their weight class. Adams Central 39 Delta 16

For the fourth time this season the BAGUBAs faced a team they had already wrestled earlier in the season, but for the first time the results were reversed as AC defeated Delta 39-16. The line-ups for both team had significant changes due to illness, injury, and weight class changes. Paul Faurote, Nick Liter, and Gabe Schwaller all scored falls for the Jets. Gage Bustos celebrated his return to varsity competition after transferring to AC with a fall as well. You can find the results of individual matches as well as the JV results on here.

Bellmont Main Event

The Jets faced tough competition at the Main Event tournament at Bellmont and fell in all five contests. AC lost to Mishawaka 45-32, Delta 47-32, Bloomington South 47-24, Chesterton 59-19, and Bellmont 43-33. Logan Mosser and Chandler Schumm both finished the day 5-0 and Logan Macklin went 3-0. Adams Central 42 Homestead 26

The BAGUBAs reversed a loss from last year by defeating Homestead 42-26. Cayden Shaffer, Logan Macklin, Parker Bates, and Chandler Schumm all scored falls for the Jets while Jashawn Berlanga collected a forfeit to add six team points. AC next participates in the Main Event at Bellmont on Saturday. You can find the results of individual matches as well as the JV results on here.

IHSWCA Team State

The BAGUBAs exceeded expectations at team state. The seeding committee expected AC to finish fourth, but they defeated the number two seed in the consolation match to finish in third place. The Jets won their pool with an easy victory over Cass followed by an exciting comeback over number five seed Knightstown. The Jets trailed by 10 with two matches to go, but pins by Gabe Schwaller and Logan Macklin secured a two point victory. The next match against number one seed Prairie Heights also came down to the last two matches, but with the opposite result as AC lost the last two matches by pin to fall 40-28. New Haven Super 12 Duals

AC participated in an unusual 12 team super dual tournament at New Haven. The Jets won both of their first two matches against Wayne, 56-14, and Elkhart Memorial 36-35. That placed them in the championship "Gold" bracket and earned them a rematch with the team they just wrestled on Thursday, Yorktown. The second match ended similarly to the first, 48-24, but the BAGABAs bounced back in round two of the bracket with a tight victory over Leo, 35-33. This was two days after Leo had defeated Bellmont 33-30. The final match of the bracket was against the number one team in class A, Prairie Heights, where the Jets fell 42-27. The team finished the day 3-2 against strong competition and finished 3rd out of 12 teams. Logan Macklin, Parker Bates and Chandler Schumm all went 5-0 for the day. Yorktown 41 Adams Central 24

The BAGUBAs took on a state ranked Yorktown with a line-up loaded with ranked wrestlers and fell by a 41-24 score. Cayden Shaffer was the only Jet to win a contested match by pinning his Yorktown opponent. Parker Bates, Paul Faurote, and Chandler Schumm were all awarded forfeits. ACAC Duals

The Jets dominated the majority of their conference opponents, but came up short of winning the duals portion of the conference wrestling championship with a loss to Jay County 43-25. The Jets defeated Southern Wells 44-27. Woodlan 65-12, Heritage 66-12, Bluffton 60-17, and South Adams 50-28. Logan Mosser, Nick Liter, Logan Macklin and Chandler Schumm all went 6-0 for the tournament. Parker Bates finished 5-1 with his only loss to state placer Mason Winner of Jay County. Coldwater Sielski Duals

The BAGUBAs rebounded from their season opening loss by sweeping all five opponents and winning the Coldwater Duals despite forfeiting three weight classes all day. AC defeated Preble Shawnee 45-21, Milton-Union 52-18, Elida 43-25, Coldwater 47-18, and St. Mary's Memorial 50-30. Logan Mosser and Nick Liter were the only Jets to go 5-0 for the day while Chandler Schumm, Logan Macklin, Parker Bates, and Dallas Schwaller went 4-0. AC will spend this week preparing for the ACAC Duals at Jay County next Friday and Saturday. You can see the results of all five matches on this page.

Bellmont 54 Adams Central 18

AC opened the 2017-18 season with a disappointing 54-18 loss to county rival Bellmont. The Jets were able to win four individual matches highlighted by Chandler Schumm's upset of ranked wrestler Braiden Shaw at 220. Nick Liter and Parker Bates scored falls for the BAGUBAs and Trey Brunner picked up the other victory for AC. The complete results of both varsity and JV matches can be viewed here.

2017-18 Roster Released

The BAGUBAs will start the 2017-18 season with 28 men on their roster. Six seniors lead the team that returns a mix of experience and new faces. Three transfers are among the new faces along with six freshmen and 3 first-time wrestlers. You can view the complete roster by clicking the Roster link above or by clicking this link.
